SPEECH CONTEST OF BAHASA INDONESIA FOR THAI CITIZENS 2008
A. Background
On the occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of the Independence Day of Indonesia, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia will organize a Speech Contest of Bahasa Indonesia for Thai Citizens. It will be the first of its kind.
The Speech Contest is aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between Indonesia and Thailand; improving the fluency in Bahasa Indonesia for Thais; increasing Thais’ fondness for Indonesia, and promoting Bahasa Indonesia to be the language of friendship and peace of ASEAN and the world.
The Speech Contest is open for Thai citizens who are students of Bahasa Indonesia, alumni of Darmasiswa Scholarship and Scholarship for developing Countries, or alumni of other scholarship offered by the Government of Indonesia (GOI).
B. Speech Contest
The Speech Contest is divided into 3 (three) levels:
- Beginner; for Thais who are studying Bahasa Indonesia in a university or college in Thailand;
- Intermediate; for Thais who were recipients of less than 1-year GOI Scholarship to study;
- Advanced; for Thais who were recipients of 1-year or more GOI Scholarship to study;
C. Topics of the Speech
Participant should choose one of the following topics:
- “Manfaat Belajar Bahasa Indonesia” (Why Should I Learn Bahasa Indonesia);
- “Pengalaman Tinggal di Indonesia” (My Best Experience Living in Indonesia);
- “Hal-Hal Yang Paling Saya Sukai Dari Indonesia” (What Do I Like Most About Indonesia);
- “Indonesia Yang Bersahabat” (Friendly Indonesia);
D. Requirements
- Participant is a student of university/college in Thailand or an alumnus of Darmasiswa Scholarship, Scholarship for Developing Countries, or other scholarship offered by the GOI;
- Participant should be at the age of 15 or older;
- Participant should write a 2-3 page (A4) speech in Times New Roman, 12 Font Size and line spacing at 1,5;
- Participant should write their full name, age, occupation, address, phone number, and e-mail on the top left side of the speech;
- Participants is required to attach a copy of student card (for Beginner) or a copy of certificate/degree from Indonesia (for Intermediate and Advance);
- The speech should be sent by post to the Office of Education and Cultural Attaché, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, 600-602 Petchburi Rd, Bangkok, 10400, and by e-mail to didiksulistyanto4@gmail.com and srwuryanti@yahoo.com;
- The speech when delivered is about 5-10 minutes;
- The juries’ decision is final and undisputed;
- All winners are obliged to write a report on their stay in Indonesia in Thai Language and Bahasa Indonesia;
E. Time Table of the Speech Contest
1 June-7 July 2008 : Registration by sending the speech to the Embassy
by post and e-mail. No registration fee;
11 July-12 August 2008 : Semi Final Competition for the short-listed
participants from Southern Thailand held in Songkhla;
21 July-12 August 2008 : Semi Final Competition for the short-listed participants
from Central and Northern Thailand held in Bangkok;
15 August 2008 : Final Competition in Bangkok
(Note: The Embassy will cover land transportation and
accommodation for participants who are selected for the
Final Competition)
17 August 2008 : Prize Presentation to the Winners of the Speech Contest
The participants are encouraged to visit the Embassy’s website to closely follow the progress of the Speech Contest.
F. Prizes
Beginner
- Top Winner (1st Position), will get a trophy, a return air ticket Bangkok-Denpasar (Bali), and Home Stay in Bali for 3 days 2 nights;
- Runner Up (2nd Position), will get a trophy, a return air ticket Bangkok-Yogyakarta, and Home Stay in Yogyakarta for 2 days 1 night;
- Runner Up (3rd Position), will get a trophy, a return air ticket Bangkok-Jakarta, and Home Stay in Jakarta for 2 days 1 night;
Intermediate
- Top Winner (1st Position), will get a trophy, a return ticket Bangkok-Denpasar (Bali), and Home Stay in Bali for 3 days 2 nights;
- Runner Up (2nd Position), will get a trophy, a return air ticket Bangkok-Yogyakarta, and Home Stay in Yogyakarta for 2 days 1 night;
- Runner Up (3rd Position), will get a trophy, a return air ticket Bangkok-Jakarta, and Home Stay in Jakarta for 2 days 1 night;
Advanced
