In term of commodities profile the province of Central Sulawesi has a similar condition with other provinces in Sulawesi Island. The most shares are contributed by food crop sub sectors, followed by sub sectors of plantation, fisheries, forestry and animal husbandry. In addition to the food crop (rice), other agricultural commodities have also contributed to the economic development, such as cassava, corn, soybean and bananas.
A number of foreign investors has reached their propose to invest in this region. Most plantation area in Sulawesi Island have been cultivated by coconut and clove, although its soil structure is suitable also to develop As cashew nut and vanilla Plantation.
However, especially private companies have gradually developed these two commodities in this region. This province has a big potential land to the plantation as well as potential resources of sea fisheries. The main commodities of sea fisheries cover tuna, skipjacks, pelagic, seaweed, pearl and shrimp.
As large as 4.4 million-forest areas has also become an interesting factor to the investment. It is estimated to have many potential resources. Forest area of Central Sulawesi produces ebony as a main forest commodity of Indonesia.
The government planed to develop processing of ebony in order to achieve value added to the region. Besides, forest area in this region is suitable to be developed as farming (animal husbandry), plantation and tourism.
The mining sector has also many potential deposits to be developed in the future, such as sand, feldspar, mica, kaolin, copper, molybdenum, nickel, coal and marble. The regional government has continuously strived to provide investment climate conducive to investment.
The province of Central Sulawesi is located between 2°22' north latitude - 3°48' south latitude and between 119°22' - 124°22' east longitude. This province covers an area of 261,957 km2, comprises 68,033 km2 land and + 193,924 km2 waters. The government administration is set up into .8 regencies, namely the regencies of Donggala, Poso, Banggai, Toli-Toli, Banggai Island and Perigi Moutong, and Palu City. In 2001, the total GRDP reached Rp 2,507.4 billion. Agriculture sector shares the most contribution (44.29%) followed by services (14.63%), trading, restaurant and hotel (11.08%), transportation/communication (8,60%), building and construction (6,94%) and industries (7,49%).

In 2001, the average of economic growth reached 5.19 %, while the income per capita reached Rp 1,114,510.00 in same period.
EXPORT-IMPORT
In 2001, the export value of goods and services was amounted to US$ 117,930,820.00, while the import value of goods/services and supplies was as much as US$ 1,586,340.00.
MINIMUM WAGE RATES
In 2002, the monthly minimum wages rates were around Rp 350,410.00.
