Investment Opportunities

AGRICULTURE

Special horticulture are being developed, including the upland vegetables and flowers such as cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, potato, carrot, marquise, asparagus, broccoli and beans, located in Agam regency, Tanah Datar and Lembah Gumanti district with 700 Ha width of area.

PLANTATION

There are gambier cultivation and processing, consisting of 3,000 Ha in the Fifty-town regency, 1,500 Ha in Pesisir Selatan regency and 500 Ha in Agam regency. The other commodity is Arabica coffee, 1,500 Ha area located in Tanah Datar regency, 2,500 Ha area in the Fifty-town regency, and 5,000 Ha area in Solok regency. While 3,000 Ha of palm oil plantation is located in Sawahlunto Sijunjung, 6,000 Ha area is in Solok regency and 3,000 Ha area is in Pesisir Selatan regency.

ANIMAL HUSBANDRY

There is 1,000 Ha of beef cattle and beef fattening located in Sawahlunto Sijunjung regency and 1,000 Ha of this is located in Agam regency, while the chicken livestock is located in the Fifty-town regency.
Fisheries. There are the integrated catching and processing fish such as tuna and cakalang fish, and cultivation of sea fish and mangrove crab located in Pesisir Selatan regency and Mentawai island.

MINING

There are several coal mining sites with measured deposits of 28 million ton in Sawahlunto Sijunjung regency, 2,675 thousand ton in Solok regency and 2,517 thousand ton in Pesisir Selatan regency. Other mining commodity is 25,000 m³ deposit of half precious stone explored and processed in Pesisir Selatan regency and 20,000,000 m³ of this in Solok. Approximately 337,000 mt deposit of iron sand can be explored in Agam regency and millions of this deposit in Pariaman regency, while 55.5 million ton of toseki mining is located in Pasaman regency. The other mineral sources are 2,400 million m³ estimated deposit of granite in Sawahlunto Sijunjung regency, 3 million m³ of this in Solok regency and 26.2 million m³ of this in Pesisir Selatan regency.

MANUFACTURING

It consisting of cooking oil and margarine processing in Pasaman and Sawahlunto Sijunjung regencies, vehicle tire and rubber goods manufacturing in Padang Pariaman Industrial Estate and cocoa flour and paste industry in Pariaman and Agam regencies, fish processing and canning in the regencies of Pariaman, Pesisir Selatan and Kepulauan Mentawai. Meanwhile, cement industry with estimated deposits of 1.3 billion ton is located in Pasaman regency, 0.3 billion ton in Sawahlunto Sijunjung regency, 6.2 billion ton in Solok regency, 0.5 billion ton in the Fifty-town regency and 0.4 billion ton in Padang Panjang City. The other resources are coke and briquette industry and poultry/cattle food industry.

TOURISM

Many recreation objects may be developed by potential investors namely management of tourism object of the Diatas lake, the Dibawah lake, agro city of Solok regency, sea tourism such as surfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing, jet sky, restaurant and cottage in Kepulauan Mentawai regency, mountain tourism, Air Manis plain and coast and tourism area of Padang city.
