THAI GOVERNMENT DECORATES RI AMBASSADOR

The Kingdom of Thailand has awarded a citation to Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Ibrahim Yusuf for his services in developing bilateral ties between the two countries.
The citation, the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, was presented to the envoy by Thai Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkor, the second secretary at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, Dionnisius Elvan Swasono, said in his e-mail on Thursday.
"This is the highest citation given by the Thai Kingdom to ambassadors of foreign countries who have successfully developed bilateral ties between Thailand and their respective country," he said.
Ibrahim`s tenure in Bangkok expired last April 30.
Swasono said Ibrahim contributed much to the development of bilateral ties between the two countries since his appointment as ambassador in October 2004.
The trade volume between Indonesia and Thailand increased at an average of 18 percent per year, he said.
Thailand became the 18th biggest investor in Indonesia in 2007 and the Indonesian Embassy there has held a cultural performance in almost all regions in Thailand.
