CORNELIA VOIGT SHOWS HER BEST IN "AGAM INTERNATIONAL SKYGLIDING FESTIVAL"

Cornelia Voigt, world female cross-country skygliding champion of Switzerland showed her best in the opening of the international skygliders festival in Puncak Lawang, Matur Maninjau sub-district, Agam district, West Sumatra, on Sunday.
A total of 56 skygliders from the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, Switzerland and Singapore, are taking part in the annual festival entitled "Visit Agam 2008" from May 11 to June 11, 2008.
Puncak Lawang is the best location for the skygliders to take off, Agam regent Aristo Munandar said here Sunday, adding that the event was aimed to lure foreign tourists to come to Indonesia within the larger framework of Visit Indonesia Year 2008.
The ground where the skygliders take off is approximately 1,200 meters above sea level, overseeing Lake Maninjau, the second biggest lake in West Sumatra.
Apart from that, the event`s organizing committee also holds the traditional canoe race in the lake, traditional musical performances like the "Tambua Tansa", including "Saluang Dendang".
According to Aristo, a number non-indegenous people would also hold consultations on observing the 100th anniversary of Buya Hamka, one-time general chairman of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) and noted Ulema from West Sumatra.
