FOREIGN TOURISTS STAY LONGER IN BALI

Foreign tourists who came to Bali last June spent an average of 3.54 days on the island, according to the local  statistics office.
    
"The figure represents an increases by 0,09 percent compared to May 2009 when their average length of stay was  3.45 days," chief of Bali province’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Ida Komang Wisnu, said here on Monday.
    
He said both foreign and domestic tourists used star-rated hotel during their stay in Bali. This had a positive effect on the occupancy rate of star-rated  hotels in Bali which during June 2009 reached an average of  62.77 percent or up 2.51 percent from 60.26 percent in  May.
    
Ida Komang Wisnu said the highest occupancy rate was achieved by hotels in  Badung district, namely 68,18 percent, and  while hotels in Buleleng district  had the lowest occupancy rate at 30.47 percent. He further said, five-star hotels had an occupancy rate of 67.54 percent, four-star hotels  65.50 percent and three-star hotels  61.83 percent.
    
Meanwhile, two-star hotels in Bali had an occupancy rate of  44,08 percent and  one-star hotels  47.92 percent. Ida added non-star hotels in Bali had an occupancy rate of  32.62 percent  in June 2009. The number was down from  May 2009 when it was  33.74 percent.
